3 Classics Of The Silver Screen: Volume 7
Three classic Hollywood films, from three different genres. 'Our Town' (1940), adapted from the play by Thornton Wilder, features an early performance from William Holden in an evocative drama about small-town life before the First World War. 'The Star Packer' (1934) sees John Wayne star as a tough cowboy who infiltrates a gang of outlaws in order to track down the man responsible for the murder of his family. In the early sci-fi film 'Rocket Ship X-M' (1950) Colonel Floyd Graham (Lloyd Bridges) heads a rocketship mission to the moon which accidentally lands on Mars. The astronauts are shocked to discover that the Red Planet once had a civilisation which was almost completely destroyed in an atomic holocaust, leaving the survivors to regress to the level of primitives.
