Doctor Who -The Time Lord Collection Limited Edition Box Set
Doctor Who -The Time Lord Collection Limited Edition Box Set No 1504.
This set contains the following stories:
The War Games - "The War Games was the seventh and final serial of season 6 of Doctor Who. It was the final story of the 1960s and the last produced in monochrome. It was notable for introducing the Time Lords and for being the first time that the Doctor's home planet was seen. It was also the first story in which Derrick Sherwin was credited as producer. Discounting The Trial of a Time Lord as four narratively linked stories, it was the longest Doctor Who story to survive the purging of the BBC's videotape archive and currently marks the earliest point in the series where first-time viewers may begin watching Doctor Who in chronological order without encountering any missing episodes. It was also the first story to have a large gap of time between it and the next one.The final episode saw the departure of Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury as companions Jamie McCrimmon and Zoe Heriot. It was the first time in the history of Doctor Who that either a companion or an incarnation of the Doctor made their last regular appearance in the concluding episode of a season. It was also the first time that an incarnation of the Doctor and all his companions were written out of the program in the same story. Also, unlike most regeneration stories, the new lead actor did not appear in the final moments of the tenth part. The story also featured a father and son playing roles on screen: David Troughton, the son of Patrick Troughton, appeared in this story."
The Three Doctors - "The Three Doctors was the first serial of season 10 of Doctor Who.The serial marked several milestones for the program. Most notably, it was the first multi-Doctor story, establishing the concept of the Doctor being able to meet his past incarnations. As such, it also marked the return of William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton to the roles of the First Doctor and Second Doctor respectively. Narratively, this tenth anniversary special also ended the three year long story arc of the Third Doctor being exiled to Earth, which had begun in season 7 in 1970. Additionally, the special saw Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Sergeant Benton enter the Doctor's TARDIS for the first time. It was incidentally the first use of the phrase "it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside," notably by the Third Doctor as a suggestion for what Benton should say.Though Troughton eagerly made more reappearances in multi-Doctor stories, this was the last time Hartnell appeared as the First Doctor, and his only multi-Doctor outing. He had been suffering from arteriosclerosis and his condition was beginning to heavily deteriorate from the terminal sickness. His wife advised against a physically demanding role out of concern for his failing health. For this reason, Hartnell's role in the story was limited to pre-recorded appearances on video screens, while seated in a chair at Ealing Television Film Studios, and delivered his lines with the aid of cue cards. Nearing the end, Hartnell succumbed to his illness only two years later."
The Deadly Assassin - "The Deadly Assassin was the third serial of season 14 of Doctor Who.This serial saw the return of the Doctor's nemesis, the Master, but in a heavily decayed state played by Peter Pratt. Roger Delgado had died in an automobile accident three years earlier, requiring a new actor to take his place. Afterwards, the Master became subject to a change in appearance and other changes as needed when an actor replaced the role, much like the Doctor, although, from an in-universe perspective, which change of actors should be considered a change of "incarnation" is far less clear-cut."
The tapes are new but the outer box shows signs of shelf wear.
